Prior to our season starting, I watched and discussed philosophy’s with several different power skating instructors. I ended up bringing Brian (Flow) on as our team power skating instructor for the year.

What set Brian (Flow) apart from the pack was his interactions and teaching methods with his students. While he always pushed his students to be better, he kept his sessions fun and the players engaged.

Throughout the course of our season Brian collaborated with me to produce progressive drill plans and incorporated the learnings specific to our age group He coached not only the players during our sessions but also the Coaching staff.

When each of our players looked forward to the next session with “Coach” Brian, I knew I had made the right choice.

I would highly recommend Brian as your team or individual power skating instructor.

My son Ryan Jennings began skating with Flow Power Skating and Brian Romany this past November and he has thoroughly enjoyed the instruction, development and small group sessions.  The small group sessions are what sets them apart from everyone else.

As a parent who is supporting their sons hockey development; We are very impressed with Brian’s commitment to the player getting better every day as well as holding them accountable for their own progress and skill development.

The hard work is placed on the player to apply what they are being taught and learning.   Brian and Brandon have been excellent mentors and teachers in power skating as well as stride, balance points, edge work in strong skating aspects of development.

We can’t say enough about how impressed we are with Brian Romany!  His patience and skill are demonstrated not only on the ice, but in the noticeable improvements we see after every session.  He took, and continues to take the time to evaluate Markus and determine, as an individual, what areas need work.  He is not just “going through the motions” with a series of pre-determined drills that are the same for every skater.  He develops an individualized plan and implements it with persistence and patient determination.  In group skating scenarios, again there is a personalized approach, where the level of the group and their skill sets are carefully considered and used in the development of a purposeful approach.  We have seen an incredible improvement in Markus’s individual skills (balance, edges, strength and positioning) as well as in his overall hockey sense.  He is not only learning to develop his skills, but he is learning why each skill is important and how it fits within the game. Markus has participated in a number of different camps and clinics with a variety of coaches, but he always asks for Brian and we look forward to continuing to work with him!

My son plays minor Atom AA hockey. He has skated with Brian for three years. I have never had to convince my son to go to the rink to learn from Brian – he always looks forward to it. I have watched Brian coach a wide range of skaters – from children to adults, ankle biters to OHL prospects – and he has a particular talent in his ability to individualize his approach to each skater.

My daughter loves going to Brian for power skating.  In fact, she doesn’t want to go anywhere else.  She appreciates his calm manner and when she is with him she works extra hard to meet his expectations. From a parent perspective I am always amazed how, in half an hour, he can get her doing a skill that she couldn’t do when she arrived.  His patient, insistence on detail and proper execution and detail makes her a better skater every time she’s out.

Brian’s coaching over the last several years has made a big difference for our son’s skating, allowing him to stay competitive in AAA hockey and helping to build the confidence and skill he needs moving into the all important major bantam and minor midget seasons.
